Update from Glenn

Glenn McDonald
ZPC Senior Pastor

Last February we thanked God for our first 25 years of life as a church family. It’s safe to say that ZPC’s 26th year has been like no other. It has included the establishment of a new Saturday night service, and a 25% increase in overall worship attendance. During the summer we re-organized our staff and launched a new Family Life Ministry Team; we also, with great pain, eliminated the full-time positions of Executive Pastor and Director of Worship and the Arts. We made significant upgrades to our facility and made overall budget reductions of about 15%. Along the way we have held six public conversations or Town Hall meetings; you’ll find links to these meetings at zpc.org and CD copies available at the Welcome Center.

ZPC has been especially blessed this year by lay people who have “stood in the gap” to provide extraordinary support. Andy Miller recently stepped down from his position as interim Director of Operations following nine months of exemplary volunteer service, Mike Robertson filled in as interim Controller, and Bill Dull has led ZPC’s Transition Team since last spring. Many parents and volunteers have bolstered our ministries to children, to youth, and to mission projects around the world.

What will 2009 bring? We plan to devote the first six months of weekend teaching to a chapter-by-chapter study of the book of Acts, as we go Back to the Blueprints that Jesus and his original disciples established for the church. In January, we anticipate that hundreds of ZPCers will participate in the church-wide Reveal spiritual life survey. This reality will remain the same: At every step we will look to the Leader of our church, Jesus Christ, as we endeavor to fulfill his call to be disciples who make disciples. Thank you for being part of the ZPC family!

Your friend and pastor,
Glenn
